WHO IS DEVIN GARNETT?

I am an intelligent, confident, distinguished gentleman with a mind full of ideas, with the ambition and integrity to match. Getting involved to a point where I can utilize my skills, gain further experience, challenge myself and making the world better because I lived is what drives me to reach my full potential. My creativity is my gift I was given from birth to share with the world. I’m a right brained, left hander that loves to make people smile. Visual artist- This is a love story…..about a boy and art. When I was born I was always getting into things, having to touch stuff to see how it felt.  Naturally I became good with my hands and that lead me to become the person I am today. My first love was with a pencil, and when I learned how to operate this powerful tool there was no stopping me. I took to drawing with my left hand over the standard right handed method (no offense to you right hander's). Cartoons and older kids at school that could draw lead me to develop my artistic abilities.  I would scribble on everything   and drove my mother insane (those were the good days).  Also when I became proficient I would compete against other kids to see who was better. This would push me to be better and learn as much as I could. This lead me to enroll in art classes most of my school career. My most influential art education came in high school from my Center for the Arts classes. My most memorable lesson is that “Art is Intent” meaning that if you say its art then that is what it is.

Tattoo artist- After graduating high school I was free to let my art roam free so I started experimenting with different mediums.  So I picked up tattooing based on the suggestion of a few good friends. I landed an informal apprenticeship for a year @ Liquid Metal Tattoo where I learned invaluable knowledge about

Author- Due to my knowledge of the tattoo industry it led me to write a book about how to be a freelance tattoo artist. Writing is a very big part of my life I have tons of papers full of idea and concepts that have inspired me to write more books, essays and articles. I draw a lot of my inspiration from books I have read over the years from Davinci to Seth Godin. I love to read good books that make me think critically and force me to examine myself. Cornel West states that an unexamined life is not worth living and I believe that to be true. And I am constantly trying to live life instead of just exist.

Motivational speaker/ Life coach- The urge to help people follow their passions through action is a very key component in why I like to be a motivational speaker and life coach. Fear or the illusion of failure paralyzes people to the point of stagnation and that is no way to live. That is a form of selfishness to know that there is something you want to do and not do it. One doesn’t know how their actions can enhance someone else’s life because you followed through with a goal. Everyone has greatness within them and to waste it is a huge disservice to society and yourself. Furthermore they say the richest place on earth is the grave yard because that's where all the unrealized dreams lay. I want to help people live not just exist because we don’t know who we can help.

Comedian- I am a comedian because laughter is medicine. And it has been scientifically shown to have health benefits. So I try to leave them laughing everywhere I go.

Talent scout- Calvin Dunn is a talented young man who I helped to make over 470,000 YouTube views in less than a year. I have an eye for talent and this young man is one of many to come. And with my promotion, marketing, and networking skills I will develop a strong fan base for great talent.

Philosopher- Philosophy is a passion of mine because it makes my mind stretch. For example does the brain have a gender? And does the end justify the means? The fact that anyone can be a philosopher because it starts with wondering about something attracts me. I am also a seeker of universal truths as well like “treat your neighbor the way you want to be treated.”

Successful Entrepreneur- I am a serial entrepreneur always trying to find a niche. I have run a house curb number business, I sold painted river rocks as book ends and paper weight, sold motivational CDs and running a freelance tattoo business all together netting over $10,000 of extra income
