The Limits That Limit You

Limiting beliefs... What is a limiting belief? A limiting belief is something that you believe about yourself, others or the world and although it isn't actually true, the fact that you think it is makes it true. This holds you back from experiencing all sorts of success and happiness. Anytime you tell yourself "I can't" or "that won't work" to something that's in the realm of possibilities that's a limiting belief. When you were born you had two innate limitations, the fear of heights and the fear of loud noises. These kept you from jumping off of very high places and being able to react quickly to signs of danger. However most limits we place on ourselves today are a result of nurture not nature. We place limits on ourselves as the result of negative experiences from our childhood and influence from authority figures or people who's opinion you value.
One must understand the structure of the limiting mind as well, for it tends to feed on itself in a downward spiral. Placing blame on yourself and others only helps to strengthening it. It can manifest in ways such as self doubt "remember the last time you messed up". Circumstantial doubt "everyone will make fun of me". Rationalization "why bother it won't workout any way". And false judgment "no one likes what I say". Not only does your limiting mind make you doubt it also places images in your mind like getting ignored, being mocked, bullied, being sad and alone, being observed and judged, or getting rejected and seeing more successful people do it better. Some even get a physical sensation like anxiety which does nothing but cause stress, even when there is no real physical threat. Is this you?
Now we will focus on the flip side of that coin. Called the “Freedom Mind”. To subscribe to the freedom mind means to free your mind from self imposed limits. To abolish a limiting mind, convince yourself logically that the dialogue of your limiting mind is incorrect and in fact self sabotaging.Biologically a freedom mind gives us signals of finding food to eat, water to drink, and the desire to have sex. Today we also have drives for power through career, enjoyment, play, and purpose from spiritual practice. Which means no matter what others think or how emotional you are or what obstacles arise, when you are hungry or thirsty you will do whatever it takes to quench these drives. We all have to eat, and nothing anyone said has ever stopped you from eating when hungry. For example if your limiting mind tells you that you don’t know what you are talking about or you will get nervous, your freedom mind can interject. Saying “I have spent time researching and I am prepared” or “I may have a natural stress reaction to this situation, because after all it is kind of stressful. But that doesn’t mean I can't handle it and use my nervousness to give me the drive needed to perform at my best and feel good about myself. I can handle this.” Take a moment and write down your own limiting minds reservations about that endeavor you want to pursue. Then write down corresponding freedom mind responses that empowers you. Using the word you for your limiting mind and I and Me for your freedom mind.
Free your mind. Let go of all doubts, fears, and dis beliefs.
Its up to you to feed regular positive scripts into your freedom mind on a regular basis. Do this when you wake and when you are going to sleep and periodically during the day especially at work. What will start to happen will be that these phrases and words will give you the power to overcome, persevere and succeed. Pick three freedom mind scripts or affirmations that you write down when you feel you will or self determination lacking. And switch up your affirmations as your needs d. A scientist doesn't know the word impossible nor do they subscribe to limits and you shouldn't either.
